Totally NOOBular

Post by Sciguy77 »

Hey all,
I found this game a couple of weeks ago, had NO IDEA what it was, and after a few minutes of playing around I deleted it. First of all, I'd like to make a suggestion -- INCLUDE SOME GIRLS with the base game, or an instruction manual or something! I found an old link to the game (Ver. 2 or something like that) on some obscure game site that didn't say much about the game itself, so didn't realize I had to add stuff before I could go chasin' women around the countryside. No matter where I went, I wasn't seeing anything, and after a little while i got frustrated and deleted it. I still haven't had any success with the game, which brings me to my REAL reason for making my post:
What in God's name am I supposed to do about having nothing to eat? :confuse: I managed to buy some sandwiches which now show up in my inventory, but my guy still keeps bitchin' that he has nothing to eat. What other things should I look for once I get some girls imported into the game? Are there any setup/game play instructions anywhere? I'm not stupid (or at least that's what mom says!) but this game would probably be a LOT more fun if I knew what I was doing -- or better yet -- what the game really does! I apologize in advance if there's a thread somewhere that covers all of this.
The newest version of the game is installed, but the GirlPacks are slow going. This could very well solve my problems, but I won't know until sometime tomorrow at the rate things are downloading.
I've got high expectations for this game. I'm in school for Mechanical Design, so 3D modeling is something I'm getting better at on a daily basis. I'm pretty good with video editing too, and am very intrigued to see how the mechanics of this game all fit together.

EDIT:
I finally got a GirlPack downloaded, but when I went to install it I found this new version is FULL of girls, including the one I spent all day downloading! The inventory system seems to be functioning well too -- no problems so far. I'm still trying to get the mechanics down, but my first impression is this game ROCKS! I can't seem to raise my relationship with a girl high enough to earn a star yet, but I'm guessing that has something to do with my stats. On top of that, I've still got to figure out how to raise my libido. One sex scene with a girl out of my league and it went from 11 to zero!
Anyway, great game and if I get stuck along the way I'll be sure to ask in the forums. If you got the word out about this game I think there would be a lot of interest. Just my opinion ---
Here's a hint if others aren't aware of it. BUY A CHEAP LOTTERY TICKET EVERY DAY! I've won 6 days in a row (out of 6) and it pays more than working.

In short: Scoreville is a dating simulation. You go on with your daily life and try to raise your stats by going to school/gym and earn money by working/other possibilities. Along the way you can meet girls, if you have girlpacks installed.

Relationship: With a high-class chick you have to flirt a lot, before she is ready for sex. Try to raise the flirt bar up to the very end, then end the conversation. Rinse and repeat.

Libido: This will raise after successful sex, try to satisfy the girl. If you can't keep up with the better ones, you can pop one or more Viagra pills during sex.

Lottery: Well, yes. But there are more lucrative jobs in the game which might not be available to you at the moment.

Eating: You can ignore the messages, but will lose more energy if you are hungry. Eating is done in bars or restaurants, or in your kitchen at home. You should buy some (cheap) furniture first, though.

Thanks for the response! I think I'm getting the hang of it now.

I do have a request though. Can someone point me to the post(s) that explains how to edit/create girlpacks? I've found 8 packs with 1 or 2 clips inside them that won't play. I can extract, edit, and repack them (I think!), but with all the girls in the game I haven't come across my reworked pack yet. I don't know if that's because my pack is bad or pure chance. I want to make sure I'm doing it right before proceeding. Girlpack creation would make an awesome STICKY for the top of the forums.
Is there a way to force the game to play a certain pack? If I set up the girlpack folder with a single girl and start a new game with hacked player stats, can I force the girl to show up AND disable the need to flirt? I want to spend my time troubleshooting my work rather than hunting down NPC's.
I hope that all makes sense. I did quite a bit of modding/meshing in the SIMS 3, and working with sims3packs was pretty complex. This seems very intuitive -- I must be doing something wrong!

All girls have a simulated day consisting of work + fun + sleep, so quite a bit of chance is involved to meet a particular girl. However, if you remove all the other packs from the girlpack folder, you can use the city map to find the girl: Locations with girls have a larger dot. Since you only have one girl, you can find her easily.

You can't skip the flirting, but you can edit the scene requirements (minimum relationship, day time). In order to see if the position video plays you can use the editor directly, though.

Once again -- thanks for all the info!
When I get the proper settings for arousal and relationship levels ironed out, I think I'll have this under control. I've been playing with the video clips a little today, trying to get the file size down. Have you considered using Flash Video files? They run fine on my home copy of VLC, can be easily made with the free, downloadable version of Any Video Converter, and flv's are smaller. The GirlPack Editor wouldn't let me load one to try it out though. I made identical mp4 and flv clips -- same resolution, same quality, same source -- and the size difference is more than double. The mp4 clip takes up 17.4 MB while the flv only uses 8.19 MB. I LOVE VLC; it plays almost anything you throw at it. It would probably play an old vinyl record if it would fit in the DVD Drive! These clips are only 50 seconds long, when I remake the longer clips as mp4's those numbers will grow. If flv's will work, the girlpack size could be cut nearly in half.

To use the game's version of VLC to test my video clips, do I launch it directly from the game folder itself? Fixing meshes was so tedious and time consuming in the SIMS I sometimes forget to even look for an easy way to do things.

You can include any video format you like, as long as VLC plays it. The only limitation is the predefined file mask in the editor, but you can switch to *.* or rename your FLV files to AVI.

As to VLC itself: Please do not use the copy in the game folder anymore, this is a very old version. In case you have the VLC sub-folder in the game path, rename or delete it. Scoreville will pick-up the 32bit VLC installed in your system instead, this one should be up-to-date to play the newer HEVC videos.

@ok666: :tuschel: The vlc-subfolder doesn't exist for a long time in the game directory. :tuschel:

I was under the impression Sciguy77 still got an old game copy with VLC as part of the release.

All these replies! I'm definitely feelin' the love -- thanks everyone.
I had an old copy of the game, but I downloaded what I thought is the latest version on Friday. The torrent I got it from says "ScoreVille 300" which downloaded ScoreVille330.rar. That's what I'm running, but there is still a subfolder in there for VLC. Before I start the game again I'll rename that folder, just to make sure it isn't being used. If all goes well I'll delete it.
On to the fun stuff! I finished my first GirlPack, but can't seem to locate her even with the "Larger City Dot" trick. I'll post it in the GirlPack thread with a disclaimer that its status is untested, and if someone could take a look at it that would be a big help. Until I can find it in-game myself, I can't be sure the arousal levels work the way I think they do. Feel free to remove it if need be -- I'm much more concerned about getting things right than adding new game content.
I'm also noticing some questions about how to play the game popping up from new players, and I totally understand where those questions are coming from. I'll write up a GETTING STARTED guide from a brand new player's point of view. I'll leave the technical stuff like game modding to the Gurus, but I can certainly help a new player turn a frustrating experience into a fun one!

EDIT: My Vanessa Cage girlpack got posted earlier today, and I do want to make sure it works and share it. She grunts, squeaks, moans, swears, growls, has a few MASSIVE orgasms, and finally passes out. Her arousal levels rise accordingly, and it may take a few playthroughs to see every clip. Hell, I even added the option to "Watch Porn" to get her aroused initially. When I know it works I'm going to add more scenes for different relationship levels. That scene will take a relationship of 10 and GF status to see.
I'm making a new pack with edited responses, and its driving me crazy. The fact this option was even included is too cool not to take advantage of. The girls are different -- I'm giving them unique personalities. I had 40 or so responses typed in, and when I tried to save I got an error that the file [girl]- girlphrase already exists and It wouldn't overwrite. Deleting the old girlphrase file lets me save again, but this would be a lot faster if I could open the phrase file and edit it directly. I tried notepad and notepad++, but there are a lot of special characters between each phrase and I'm afraid of corrupting the file if I try to edit that way. I want to make phrasepacks for each girl eventually; is there an editor out there that'll let me open and edit a phrasepack? Ideally, I could make one master pack with loads of responses inside. To create a new one I'd edit a copy of the master by deleting some responses, and then save the edited version with the correct filename. If it isn't possible, I can use the included editor to basically do the same thing. Making the master is going to be a real chore though.
