Vids not working, tried everything...

Hi guys,

sorry for making another topic about this but I can't seem to get the videos in the girlpacks to play, even after trying everything I've read in other topics such as installing the newest 32bit VLC and deleting/renaming the VLC-map in the game-folder.

The only thing I see when activating a scene is a teared-up image. The peculiar thing about this is that the audio is audible just the way it should be...

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance,
Gideon

WOW that sucks man, well lets see if we can work it out somehow.... first off dont get insultyed by the super stupid questions, but we have to considder everything, so lets start...

1. can you play other video files with VLC on your computer

2. Are your girlpack(s) working (try loading them in the editor)

Thanks for trying to help out anyway ;)

Other files are playing like they should with the VLC player, and when I load the girlpacks in the editor I get the same problem as in-game: a teared-up image with the audio playing normally as it should.

What happens if you save the scene from the editor and play the movies externally? There are some girlpacks out there where the videos contain some "fade to gray" frames.

@ok666, so I saved a scene from a girlpack thus getting a GIRLSCENE-file, how am I supposed to play that file?

@stheweb, I have the latest (2.1.5 Rincewind) on my pc in program files, as mentioned I also tried to get it to work by putting both two possible VLC-folders that were suggested on scoreville.net in my game folder, but to no avail unfortunately.

Look for the TmpSceneSave folder, which is also created while saveing a scene. It will contain all the video files.

The video files found in the TmpSceneSave folder play normally like they should in VLC.

Could you please delete the VLC sub-folder in your game path? If it is present it takes precedence over the one installed in your \ProgramFiles.

I've read that in other topics so deleted it, at the moment there is no VLC-subfolder in the game folder...

Every line in my SV gamelog looks like this:

14:59:39.553 LocalVideoServer: Stream force close, error = De opgegeven netwerknaam is niet langer beschikbaar

It's in Dutch but means as much as 'the given network name is no longer available'

Anyone got any ideas why this shows up?

If you quickly switch positions you will get the error message alot, because the video server is still streaming the old video, but VLC has closed the connection and expects the new one. However, if you let the entire position play and still get the error I suggest you check your firewall and unlock port 27542.

I'm really at a loss here... I tried opening the port like you said, and it still wouldn't work, so I thought I might have done it the wrong way. But even with Kaspersky shut down completely it's still the same problem :/

You should add the Scoreville game to the Windows Firewall - Windows Firewall can stop the vidserver of the game !

This was my first Problem with the game :)

I added it to the Windows Firewall and now can Play the game like it should :)

Thanks for the tip, but didn't help unfortunately :( even after adding every possible program and port to windows firewall it still won't play, and when I shut down windows firewall as well as kaspersky it doesn't work either...

Frustrating!

It seems that your Windows cannot resolve the name "localhost"
What version of Windows are you using?

You could try typing in a Command Line Window this:

Code: Select all

ipconfig /flushdns
It clears the DNS Cache of the system.

Maybe you could also try "playing" with the file

Code: Select all

C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts
(ALWAYS keep a backup before changing it).

Thanks to your question my problem is fixed! I successfully installed the Windows 8.1 update after failing numerous times before, and now everything works!
